Three paths. Pick by your baseline, not your hope.
The 4-week plan is the canonical path for the CCD-F. The 2-week sprint and 8-week comprehensive are calibrated alternates for candidates with very different starting baselines. Take the diagnostic first, then pick the path that matches your score and weekly hours, not the one that sounds aspirational.
Pick this if…
Each card lists the profile that fits, the weekly hour commitment, and the total time investment.
2-week sprint
A compressed pass through the 4-week plan: skim the lighter domains, sprint the heaviest ones (Applications & Integration carries 33.1% of the exam), and concentrate on practice volume over reading.
- You already work with Claude in production and scored ≥75% on the CCD-F diagnostic without preparation
- You can dedicate 4+ hours/day for 14 days
- You want to compress the CCD-F 4-week plan, not follow a separate curriculum
4-week canonical (Recommended)
The canonical recommended plan for CCD-F: foundations and diagnostic in week 1, then the domains in descending weight order, closing with scenarios and a full 53-question mock.
- You scored 50-75% on the CCD-F diagnostic
- You can dedicate 1-2 hours/day on weekdays plus a longer weekend session
- You want structured, week-by-week coverage of all 8 domains, heaviest first
8-week comprehensive
Spread the same 4-week themes across 8 weeks: extra reading time, more practice cycles, and every domain's concept pages read in full before moving on.
- You scored <50% on the CCD-F diagnostic
- You're newer to Claude or LLM-based systems overall
- You prefer a slower pace, especially through Evaluation, Testing & Debugging and the other lighter-weighted domains
Three rules.
- Diagnostic score is the tiebreaker. Take the free CCD-F diagnostic. ≥75% → 2-week or 4-week. 50-75% → 4-week. <50% → 8-week.
- Hours available wins ties. If you can't commit to the weekly hours above, do not pick the 4-week plan. The 8-week plan covers the same material at a sustainable pace.
- Hands-on experience is the third lever. If you already work with Claude in the role this cert targets, you can compress. If you don't, you cannot, regardless of diagnostic score.
The 2-week and 8-week paths are written as alternates inside the 4-week plan page, not as separate full pages. Open the 4-week plan and scroll to the alternates section for compression / expansion guidance.
How Long to Prepare for the CCD-F
Two starting baselines, two timelines, one shared midpoint milestone. Use the diagnostic score as your compression signal.
- How long should someone already using Claude in production prepare for the CCD-F?
- Two to three weeks is typical if you already build with Claude day to day. Most domains map onto lived experience - concentrate compression time on Applications & Integration (33.1% of the exam, the heaviest domain), where exam framing tends to diverge most from day-to-day intuition.
- How long should someone newer to Claude prepare for the CCD-F?
- Plan for six to eight weeks. Build foundational fluency across all 8 domains before drilling scenarios, and give Applications & Integration its own dedicated block since it's the domain the exam samples most heavily.
- What signal indicates a candidate can compress their study timeline?
- Score 80% or higher on the free CCD-F diagnostic without reviewing material first. Clearing that bar consistently is a reliable signal you can compress your planned timeline by 30 to 40%, regardless of starting background.
- What is the shared halfway-point milestone across both tracks?
- Both tracks should complete at least one full 53-question mock under timed conditions at the midpoint, then review every wrong answer against its domain before continuing.
