D3 Integration and D1 Solution Design & Architecture
Integration (19%) plus Solution Design (17%) is 36% of the exam - more than a third. This is the heaviest week by design.

Cement auth/authz analysis, observability and monitoring at scale, RAG pipeline design matched to data shape, and choosing the right integration mechanism (MCP, API/CLI, agent-to-agent).
Solution design deep dive
Practice moving from a stated business problem to a full architecture, choosing workflow vs. agentic vs. augmented-LLM patterns, and applying decomposition technique to complex problems.
D4 Evaluation, Testing & Optimization and D5 Governance, Safety & Risk
Another 30% of the exam. Week 3 shifts from building the system to proving it works and proving it's safe - the two domains that separate a working prototype from something you'd let a customer touch.

Defining evaluation metrics across accuracy, latency, cost, and safety; designing test frameworks and running A/B tests; diagnosing system issues; monitoring production performance.
Governance, safety & risk
Guardrails and safety controls, LLM risks and failure modes, regulatory compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, FedRAMP), and ethical AI considerations like bias, fairness, and transparency.
D6 Stakeholder Communication, D2 Models/Prompting, D7 Dev Productivity, then synthesis
The remaining 34% plus the full mock. Stakeholder Communication (14%) and Models/Prompting (13%) round out the mid-weight domains; Developer Productivity (7%) is the lightest domain by design - give it a lighter touch to match.

Structured discovery, communicating architectural decisions and trade-offs, managing feedback loops and SLA alignment, documenting architectures for handoff.
Claude models, prompting & context engineering, and developer productivity
Model selection on cost/latency/capability trade-offs, prompt-engineering technique, context and token optimization (caching, modular prompts, Skills), plus configuring Claude tools and environments for teams.
Final synthesis
One full 63-question mock timed at 120 minutes, then a targeted review of every wrong answer against the anti-patterns reference before you book the real exam.

Compress week 1 into 2-3 days of diagnostic plus targeted reading on your weakest domains only. Spend the remaining time on the heaviest domains plus scenario reps, then reserve the final 3-4 days for a full mock, gap closure, and a second timed mock.
8-week comprehensive
Newer to Claude, or a slower sustainable pace
Stretch each domain across the first six weeks of reading plus practice, giving the heaviest domains their own dedicated week each. Reserve weeks 7 and 8 for two full mocks and every scenario walkthrough.

- You scored 720+ equivalent on at least one full, timed 63-question mock.
- You can name all 7 domains and their weights from memory, heaviest first.
- You've walked all 4 of the shared scenarios (Developer Productivity Tools, Agentic Tool Design, Long Document Processing, Claude for Operations).
- You've read the anti-patterns reference and can articulate why each wrong answer is wrong, not just which one is right.
- You've read the day-of checklist and confirmed your ID, room, and workspace meet Pearson VUE's proctoring rules.
Once your exam is scheduled
CCA-P has no prerequisite courses or exams, so registration itself is quick - the remaining prep is the plan above plus the day-of logistics. Read the day-of checklist a few days before your session so nothing about the proctoring environment surprises you.
